Discovered unknow mycelium into my cave (with a pic)
    #5771105 - 06/20/06 01:44 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Hi mates, yesterday i went to my cave and i've seen near a piece of wood some fuzzy stuff. "Mold" i thought..but the thing that surprised me were the common knots of the mycelium, where it's more compacted, where generally grow primordia. and it was white. Smelled it and seemed mycelium. so i picked it (there were different ROOTS, i can't explain better), moistened a corrugated cardbord, and put it as a sandwich between it. To do not disperse the moisture i rolled the cardboard into a common plastic garbage bag.i choosed the cardboard because if the mycelium grew over the wood should grow also over the cardboard(it has got cellulose as the wood). the common temperature of the cave is 12°C (yes! twelve!!)

After 12 hours no sign of growth..so i rembered that the mycelium grows over the CORRUGATED part of cardboard..after 36 hours first signs of growth..the pics was taken 10 minutes ago.

of course it isn't an edible one but who knows?

suggestions?

here the pic:

it could be but i'm quite sure that weren't rhizomorphs...as you see in the pics they look like a web, very strong web...

i'll wait for friday and i'll reopen the sandwich...

stay tuned!

ps. do you think that the better way to spawn it is trasfer it on pasteurized enriched straw?

I don't know, you have a better chance of contamination with the straw.
