Inside the "disc" is actually ASCII.

You mean the dots in the disc can be converted to ASCII? What does it read?

I'm intrigued... is it the standard key for ACSII or is it a message?

According to the Pinchbeck's book the disc says:
"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. [Damaged Word] There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)."
"The damaged or obscure part was first interpreted as "EELIJ?E"; later it seemed to many interpreters that it intended to spell the world "believe."
Everything I just typed is EXACTLY how it appears in the book. No typos.

I'd guess that if it is really ASCII, it's in binary form. Every so many degrees around the circle at a given radius represents a bit... (kinda guessing here?) Places where the wheat still remains might be a 1, and places where it's been flattened might be a 0. So if you were to read around the circle you might get 10010101110100101010101011 (etc) or something.
Every 8 characters represents a byte, which denotes a ASCII character. So you'd need a lot of free time to decode that crop circle.

Crop circles are a proven joke. I just find them very amusing and very artistic. Why would aliens leave a message in a field for us, why not just land and say hello? And there have been a few groups who have claimed to have done it. Also there a video recordings of circle makers out in the field. Also the farmers never report seeing an UFO in their fields, just a circle in the morning. The circles are getting ever more complex because the makers are getting more skilled.

I think it's beyond a doubt that people are responsible for crop circles.
They are aesthetically pleasing to look at. Nothing more.

Read Pinchbeck's book. It'll give you some insight into the questions you asked. All opinions of course, but they're interesting to think about.
Me....I have no idea what to believe. I don't think man could have done something like the pic I initially posted, but..... I just don't know. I like and dislike that at the same time.

The one on the photo is just a big and very thought out group project. Like I said the circles started out as simple circles. Over the years they've gotten ever more complex. I think the different groups are trying to out do eachother. If it were aliens you think they'd know how to do it from the start. So there would be an extremely big and intracate design. And it would be a pretty inefficient way to communicate. Why wouldn't they just make a light show like in first encounters of the close kind. Or just hover closely over the earth at a few cities.
