very unlikely scenario, they need much more than a few posts and pictures on overgrow, they'd need CC info for a seed buy or something else substantial

I have read stories about local police surfing e-bay looking for people that live in their area that have purchased hydroponics equipment. Donno how valid the stories are...

your friend had to have a substantial amount of light in there..to warrant a heli..and all of the man power and time and money that goes in to that..i run 4 -400 watt lamps in my flower room and 1- 250 watt in my veg room and i have never had helicopters or anything else watching me...i would shut everything down and move..ive cut and run on more than one occasion before thats what separates the pros from the joes

They could have searched not knowing how much light he was actually using. The fact that they did the search at all is reason enough to know that any sized grow is out of the question there.

theres nothing you can do about a gigantic electric bill. its going to raise eyebrows, but was your friend using stuff to block infrared from detecting large amounts of light?

you'd never really know if they were actualy watching, I have about 3 weeks before the choppers are overhead in force again at my house, usualy 2 passes a day with a couple units, my area is aparently the largest area for this region for outdoor grows, I'm yet to stumble upon one, my luck has always been bad

You wouldn't steal someone's outdoor crop if you found it would you?

That is one of the funniest things I've ever seen! That FIA document was hilarious. He got a document with all but about three words blacked out. What a crackpot. I bet "rogue helicopter pilots" are going to buzz him now just to freak him out, I would.

I heard the Rastafarian unwritten code of conduct is that clipping enough for a spliff is considered admiring the grower's work, but that any more than that, or cutting a whole plant make you a Bumba clot.

Infra-red search to check for grow lights would be my guess.
FYI: This isn't how most cops do this because it's been found unconstitutional in many jurisdictions.
The way most cops find grow lamps is by monitoring electrical usage. This is not to say that if your home electric bill is $1000, they're gonna come get you. What they look for is sharp spikes of some electrical equipment coming on and off on a regular schedule about 12 hours apart. They do this with the cooperation of the power utility.

Well then you could run the light continuously and move it back and forth between 2 flowering rooms on opposing 12 hour light schedules!
No spike!

Yeah, that's the way around the problem, but most people are not aware of this. They're putting up insulation in the roof instead.
