when harvesting, do you remove EVERYTHING in one go??

I just finished harvesting my first every flush, which btw was kinda painfull since they were so beautiful and as hard as I tried not to I always ripped out a bit of the mycelium network along with the shroom. That tearing noise really hurt. I was twisting them like 360 degrees and they would still be attached...
But whatever, my question is if I need to remove every little pin and tiny premature mushroom? Cause Im thinking these pins dont look like aborts and I'm sure they would continue growing if I let them. At the same time i wanna dunk the casing cause it seems to be pulling away from the sides, and I guess I'd drown those pins anyway if I did that...
take a look....

thanks in advance

Harvesting can be sad, until you realize that your going to have fun,
Yeah leave the pins, they should be fine, dunk and re-fruit

a lot of those little guys aren't going to get much bigger. When the caps start to open like that it means they are reaching they're full maturity. If you have pins that have caps which have not started spreading leave them. If you have small mushrooms which have caps that are flattening id go ahead and pick them.

Oh ya harvesting is sad and painfull, but at least I've only seen these guys grow for 3 days!! I felt sooo terrible the first time I had to cut down my weed cause thats a loong wait.
Coda, I had noticed that which you mentioned. Some of them are, like you said already nearing maturity jsut that they were destined to stay tiny. But so I can dunk the casing with the actual pins still attached without damaging them?
Also, how exactely do you go about dunking a casing. With a PF cake I can sort of imagine, but in the case of a casing (no pun intended :P) do I just pour in water along the edges where the casing has pulled away from the sides, or is it possible to lift the whole mass out of the shoebox its in??

dunking your casing with pins on them will not harm the pins.

dont feel bad man, lots of the teks on harvesting or the harvesting portion in the teks are vauge. I used to pull off everything as well while wondering why my second flushes were pathetic. It took me a bit of searching here to realize what i was doing wrong.

the best way to dunk a casing (albiet messy) in a larger container where you don't have a lid is in a sink or a tub: get a slow steady stream of water trickling, have it land in a crack where it pulled away from the edge or else the water will bore a hole in your substrate. you'll probably need to put a clean dinner plate on top of it (or something heavy that's clean and won't damage pins, if you can arrange it) so that it doesn't float away on you, and let the water go continuously and pour over the edges so that you keep it moving and avoid any possible bacteria buildup. you only need to do this for an hour or two - use your judgement as to how much water its lost and how much its absorbing, its not like a cake where it takes a while to soak in. pour out the excess when done, and fill in your cracks where it shrunk with some additional casing material, as well as patching any spots where you might have pulled up lots of casing when harvesting, and you're ready for the next flush. you'll probably end up with some of the casing that washed away in your sink or tub (hence the mess) so be prepared for that... but its not too bad.

the big problem you encounter with dunking casings is making sure all that excess water is totally gone. i find that it's a good idea to completely remove the substrate and pat it down with a paper towel and dry the container by hand to make sure no puddles form.
However creamcorns method is what i use when i want to dunk a casing and as long as you get rid of all the excess you'll be golden.
