Quote:
Is American foreign policy dominated by the idea of military supremacy? Has the military become too important in American life? Jarecki's shrewd and intelligent polemic would seem to give an affirmative answer to each of these questions.
He may have been the ultimate icon of 1950s conformity and postwar complacency, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was an iconoclast, visionary, and the Cassandra of the New World Order. Upon departing his presidency, Eisenhower issued a stern, cogent warning about the burgeoning "military industrial complex," foretelling with ominous clarity the state of the world in 2004 with its incestuous entanglement of political, corporate, and Defense Department interests.
This is one of the best documentaries I've seen in a while. Great directing, footage, interviews and a powerful message. It also had some real eye-opening, at least for me, stories in it and also lot of stuff that just confirmed what I already thought. The military-industrial complex working with congress and think tanks seems like a much greater threat to me than that of global warming. Please watch it and think about it.

Call me weird, but I see nothing wrong with attempting to have a powerful military.

No there is nothing wrong with having a powerful military and America certainly has the most powerful military in history. But when the lines between military corporations and government control start to blur things get dangerous. Like how congressmen have a lot to gain by supporting military production because a lot of the jobs it creates are for their voters. Or when congress signs a bill that gives the president the power to start a war and not congress like it used to be. Or when people who worked in and have ties with military corporations get in to political power. When wars are started by lying to the voters and then changing the goal of the war. Please watch the doc before you form an opinion about it.

I've seen it. Quite a good documentary in my opinion.
"When war becomes that profitable, you’re going to see more of it"

I liked the footage where Rumsfeld is shaking hands with Saddam in the eighties.
"We know Saddam has weapons of mass destruction. We have the receipts." -- Mark Russell
George Bush has ran the largest US deficit ever, more than all previous US presidents combined. The middle-east debacle might well end up like Vietnam. Building a better future for America (and the world)

there's no reason for you to be such a jerk in this thread, and not explain yourself, and act like you are better than cybrbeast or above him in anyway.

ahahhah yeah that is funny,
I am not better then anyone, and to tell what I see would take years of typing,
I see it differently, I am a hawk, not a dove,
I am nearly the only one that is on this site that is a republican hawk, I am way out numbered, by socialist but some people will believe anything,
But you are right, I should have never posted in this thread, just sit and laugh, next time
Edit: better yet I just will hit ignore,
It will never happen again

Republican supremacy I'm better THAN you and I don't have to explain it. I think you'd be suprised to see there are quite a few conservatives on this board especailly in OTD Glad I could make you laugh.
