good furniture is hard to come by, the stuff you buy at IKEA is disposable, but definately not worth the small price you pay, you'll spend more on good quality but it's furniture that will last through children and for several generations as opposed to particle board you find in most furniture stores, over all your place looks fine, like you mentioned you need wall hangings and decor items
if you have to replace a table or decide to get something new, let me know, I can help steer you to well built stuff that will hold up to life.

most of what you need can be found there, just avoid their furniture, also avoid any place that is 'scandinavian' furniture, the styles can be found elsewhere but built to last (that means resale value when you get sick of it)

Next to the TV might be a bit weird yeah, but I couldn't see many other surfaces in your room. Maybe on your table but that looks a bit cluttered. A few plants is a nice idea. It's hard to come up with more ideas because that would kind of ruin you minimalist style which I quite like in your case.
My room is really personalised I am going to put in a wooden floor somewhere in the next couple of weeks. And I need another plant besides my bonsai.

hehe right. Nice pad, real cozy. I actually have a rug that looks a lot like the one near your bed, though mines got more brown in it.

There used to be a big gas heater in front of it, there's only a hole for the exhaust in it atm. The gas heater could go when central heating was installed. I might break it open though. A fireplace would be nice. Here is my room with the lighting effects for tripping

You are one for small details. I'd like to get a door handle like this:
On the other side of the door I'd like a knocker like this
These things are pretty expensive though.

The room looks cold, stark. Introduce some warm colors to soften it.
I agree with Prisoner. Get a couple of high-quality pieces that you love and that will last. The better places will let you take stuff home to see how it looks in your home. (Especially important for rugs)
Another thing you can do is flip through magazines & tear out pictures of rooms that look appealing to you. Collect these, then see what common themes emerge. Take some of these with you when you go out looking for stuff. And don't feel like you have to buy everything at once!
Some will tell you that everything has to be the same style or period. Bullshit! If things look good together, go for it.
Good luck to you.
