Catalysts
    #5763891 - 06/18/06 10:23 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Religion, drugs, music, literature, meditation, a lover, a friend, a teacher, interaction with others... all these things and more are tools of the trade in personal growth. Catalysts to help YOU „help“ yourself. These things should provide somewhat of a guidance, not dogma. Another perspective, way of thinking, not rules to follow blindly. None of these things can give you answers only you can, yet they can point you in the right direction (also a bad direction).
It is not necessary to absorb as much as possible and choke on information/knowledge. What is necessary is to determine what works for you, and distinguish manipulation from gaining the knowledge that you need. Intuition plays a big role in gaining this knowledge, overthinking clouds it, this is why meditation can be a powerfull tool, cleansing the mind from thoughts allowing you to tap into your unconciouss mind and hopefully see things for what they trully are.
Disregarding the validity of other's people views without attempting to understand them... intolerance, is usually (not always) a sign of not being too sure of your own way. I'm in no way saying you have to adopt these views  Opening your mind to possibilites doesn't mean to follow blindly whatever anyone says.
„If you keep your mind sufficently open, people will trow a lot of garbage in it“ So learn how to process and divide this garbage from valuable pearls, and remember not to play judge and jury.

Peace
