Thick Casing Layer?
    #5760771 - 06/17/06 02:45 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Well, my friend made two seperate casings. One he applied I believe the right amount and the other had more on top. The first one is already in the fruiting chamber for a while now while the other casing has not budged through the casing surface. My question is would it be alright to brush some casing off? or could this potentially harm mycelium growth or cause contamination. Also, has anyone ever experience there casing just not growing through?

nah, it's ok to lightly remove excess casing material. It happens a lot if you eyeball the depth of your casing layer. Just grab small pinches of material until you've removed all the excess that you want removed.
