If any.........
Just a little. Otherwise, you can turn a h/poo fiber texture to MUD.
Mud.....is not a good thing.

Better to boost a cake mix with a little dry well weathered h/poo fiber.
You want a loam like consistancy to any substrate.
Again, castings can create a mud like texture.
A tiny amount - does no harm. But, be carefull with that stuff.

I liked to add it, with coir to the horse poo, adds fibers to the worm casting texture. Probably about 10% worm castings and 15% coir, along with 20-30% verm. I havnt done enough work to see what differences there are, but it warrents playing with if you have the ambition IMO..just make sure you add fiber, and dont add to many castings.

i recently tried photoguys recipe for worm castings w/pf cakes(unfortunately he hasn't been around to comment) featuered in this thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4165909/an/0/page/0
the recipe he told me is: 1 1/2 cup of fine verm 1/4 cup of worm castings 1/4 cup of BRF 1/4 cup and just a lil bit more of water (not to technical)
personally i dind't do too well with this. my cakes beared few fruits although they were of decent size. but i just mixed it in with the regular brf fruits 'cause the yield was so small. so i'll never know how the potency is.

my first atempt at bulk was very misguided (by me). did the hay pasterusation alright. but somehow i got the idea that i could case with straight worm castings. i put the castings in a sealled jar and sterylized them. then with out adding water made a layer on top. i did not wait any longer for colonization. the results were large thick white velvety cartoon like mushrooms. not sure if it was the strain or the climate or luck, but i have never seen one like that again.

I know these posts are a bit old, but I thought i might catch someone reviewing them. I recently started worm farming, its awesome! Alot of fun and real easy. I was wondering how to go about harvesting castings and sterilizing them correctly. So far it is easy to tell castings from the rest of the stuff in my bin (bedding and composting food), but I'm not sure how to prepare castings for safe mushroom use. The farming is in the very beginning stages, but perhaps in a few months I will have a small worm and casting business to start up
If anyone was thinking of worm farming I would say go for it, its a very effective way to get ride of your kitchen extras and end up with some good fertilizer for your garden or mushrooming. Plus you'll never be short on bait if you like fishing
