I propose that perhaps the subconscious accumulates all unresolved energy issues, and that influences the collective consciousness as such that the unresolved issues become issues that everyone must come to terms with, to bring awareness and energy into resolving them.
What is the explanation for the manner in which our society operates nowadays? The fact that we, as human beings, are subconsciously out of control. We've instilled within it a lot of conflict and negativity, and it is manifesting in the manners we interact.
It is the responsibility of the self to resolve and transcend this, to bring awareness into one's being and the present moment, and to actively change it. This has far-reaching effects on the collective consciousness as a whole, as it is change and it is change that is deviating from the current flow of things.. sort of like a new idea, or path.
If we, as human beings, are as concerned with survival as we certainly are, then we listen to new ideas. Perhaps not consciously, certainly not consciously when we are stuck in subconscious patterns, but deep within the intelligence and awareness that is the collective consciousness. Something within that is directly perceiving and observing all occurence. It reflects reality and bringing focus within that direct perception of reality, which naturally dissolves the unresolved, emotional issues.
I think it is our responsibility to ourselves, and our environment, to start focusing within and healing oneself.

Once one begins to work out the issues concerning one's subconscious mind, one can begin to utilize it (as one has developed a working relationship with it) and to rely on it. The subconscious mind is vast and deep, and encompasses a lot. The more the conscious mind limits the amount of thinking that is occuring, and will delegate processes to the subconscious mind, the more the conscious mind will be able to focus within the being, the present moment, and will be able to more directly perceive reality.
Its two different manners of managing one's life as the conscious mind. On one hand, you have a mind making assertions in an abstract manner, constantly thinking in symbolism, and in the other you have a mind that brings awareness within in order to tune the subconscious. The first method does not interact with the subconscious mind on its own level. The subconscious' realm is being, feeling, experience - things that are beyond the mind, things that precede the mind and its operations.
Ultimately, both the subconscious mind and the conscious mind tend to not aligned properly in function. The conscious mind exists as a mushroom extending forth from a network of mycelium, a nexus point of life. It is in place as an observation point. It has an ability to influence as an executive, but there exists an intuitive mind, a mesh network of life that will take care of the work for us, if we act as an executive and observe its behavior, and make decisions when necessary to influence it and bring understanding into it, so it will work more effectively in our experience of reality.
Simply become present, and bring one's center into being, the awareness... It all ensues from there.
