Actually about ten years ago some friends of mine took about a pound of wet common large and submersed them in a big jar of honey. They left the jar in a cool dark place for a few months. When we pulled the jar out, the honey had turned a deep violet and it only took a few tablespoons of the nectar for quite an uplifting experience. Tasted great, too!

Bump. Anyone know about this? That'd kick ass to put some mushrooms in some honey and later on eat the honey and trip.
 Peace.

I've heard that honey works to extract the active alkaloids... but isn't honey also used in some live culture innoculations?

I remember reading about this topic on this very site not too long ago. I would love to follow a honey shrooms tek if there is one.
It'd be nice to add some psychedellic honey to my favorite tea
**EDIT-
I just searched and found some info. This is how I will make it in the future:
1. Powderize dry mushrooms. 2. Add to honey. 3. Let sit in the (cabinet or fridge?) for a couple months. 4. filter the mushroom powder out of the honey. 5. eat honey with your favorite food that mixes with honey. 6. store excess in freezer.

Kick ass.
Honey and mushrooms go together in more ways than one.
 Peace.

Sounds pretty cool. I'm not very fond of the taste of mushrooms. I try and find different way to injest it.

The honey prevents rot.

I think that if the mushrooms are fresh when submerged in honey the mushrooms will rot from the inside-out as the honey is unable to get inside the mushroom to preserve its innards.

hmm what exactly causes a mushroom to rot? isn't it like bacterial and such that breaks down organic things? therefor can your honey powder in your pc to kill the stuff?

it wont rot in honey becuase honey doesnt spoil. mushrooms, well any food for that matter, decays because the bacteria living on it feed on the food and then reproduces on it...people get sick from eating all the bacteria on rotted food, not the food itself...anyway...just like every other living organism, bacteria need water to live, and there just isnt enough in honey to live...i forget the actual name of the process that kills the bacteria in honey, but i know it has something to do with osmosis

They will not rot simply because there is not an oxygenated environment, no water, and the it is very hard for bacteria to travel through honey-similar to tree sap or amber.
In essence honey will preserve the shrooms just like amber(tree sap) will preserve bugs for hundreds of thousands of years.

ok, and what do you think causes the honey to be so thick? lack of water maybe? it kills bacteria by plasmolysis, which is is the contraction of cells within plants due to the loss of water through osmosis
