All the cubes I found are about 1 1/2 inch in diam. fully opened. Does anybody know why?

For certain its hard to misidentify them as as small as they were and they get me spun I just found one like 2 inches in diam and 4 or 5 little guys starting to dry up I even brought a patty home yesteday cause it had two small ones on it but they didnt grow so I ate them, they were starting to dry and one dropped spores on the other. Its just weird though I always find maostly big ones with smaller around them even though its been like 8 yrs since Ive been hunting. Ive never been to this field neither up until a week ago its nice cause its real close, Do you think they get bigger as the season goes on I just moved back down here to FL after the ocala r. gathering

The first cubes of the season are sometimes the smallest, and I have no idea why. In the Fall season, as winter draws near, the cubes will become very short and fat due to a lack of sunlight. but the small cubes at the beginning of the summer season are a mystery, possibly due to poor nutrition or weak mycelium (or both).

That was the first time I tried growing poppies. I had about 10 plants and it was good enough for me and a few of my friends. I think the actual seed pods after they died and brewed into a tea was the most amazing experience I got from that crap.
Slicing the pods in the right phase of maturity is key. The opium that oozes out needs to be thick and not overly runny.

take a look at my avatar, that's a preserved p cubensis i found in the field. that's very uncommon for me to find them so small like that which is why i wanted to keep it on display in my room. it's a beautiful reminder of my more active hunting days. i don't have time to hunt nearly as often as i have in years past now.

SUPER D!!!! I've been looking for you for ages! I saw your post on how you preserved that mushroom last year, and I've been wondering ever since how you did it. Seriously, that has been on my mind constantly. Care to enlighten me please?

hey bro, i see your posts here and there still. it's real easy to preserve anything you want. you just need to get casting resin and a catalyst liquid. both of these are found in most local craft stores. the directions for how much catalyst to use per amount of casting resin will be displayed on the box/bottle. the only other thing you need is a mold to pour the resin in. in the case of my p cube, i used a small paperclip container because it was a perfect size for the lil cubey. after the resin was dry and hard i had to break the container to get the finished product out but it only costs like $3.
