PC pressure and time suggestions?

I just bought my PC last night at wal-mart. I have been reading that most people suggest PC'ing the jars at 15psi usually for about 60-90 minutes. I was reading over the manual for my PC and i noticed that the model i bought is pre-regulated to only allow 10PSI. So if im using it at 10PSI how long should i leave them in there?

thanks for your completely useless post. It really helped me out with my question. I did use the search function and found nothing about sterilizing at 10psi..

seems that the related thread area is much more effective than the search function now that you brought it up. I feel like an ass now.

Nah, sometimes the search function is hosed. I'll try it right now, it could be broken. I'd like to point out that while my first reply seemed really sarcastic in reading it, that wasn't how I meant it!
I just re-read it and it sounds smart ass as hell hahahah! Sorry!

Ok every once in a while they do some sort of 'refresh' on the forum.
What you have to do is set the timeframe perameter. Their is nothing in the 'within the last month' section. But if you set that to 'within the last year' you will find hundreds of posts regarding this.
LOL! No wonder more than the usual amount of re-asked questions have been coming up! I hope alot of people read this thread and re-set the time parameter for their searching.
Enjoy and sorry for what read like sarcasm,

If it's in there, I don't see it.
Perhaps we can pm a mod about it.

well you'd really need to pm an admin. Mods dont usually have the juice to modify board settings. I know they are doin updates this weekend so maybe they could check into that.

I would take it back, for a refund & get a bigger/better PC.
Otherwise, increase your PC times by about 36% (1/3rd longer).
The trouble you will have, if it is a weight type pressure regulator system IS:
The PC will most often run DRY, after 2 to 2.5 hours of PC time.
If it runs DRY, you TOAST whatever it is, you are PC'ing.
Mirro 22 quart is fairly inexpensive & work fine @ 15 psi. http://www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/mirro22qt.htm

i have the exact same PC from wallyworld, and i have been using it for over a year now with 100% success. just PC for at least an hour and a half. i just keep an ear turned, and stop it right when the water runs out. (about 2 hrs tops for me) and i live at 5280ft elevation. (which means i should be running even higher PSI, but IMO i find that to be bullshit. 100% at 10PSI at 5280ft el. I'm a believer. GL man!

Return it. Get a better one. Like the big ass Presto one.
That has a pressure gauge on it. Its like 80 bucks, well worth it.
I think so anyway.

Contact your local hardware stores and sporting goods/misc stores.
If they don't have one on hand, then often they will offer to order one for you. I saved 50 bucks on my 30 qts AA by doing that.

Not sure about "locally" as I have NO IDEA where you are?
Link above is a fair deal.
