First find of the year....

Damn I really need to invest in a digi-cam. Maybe next paycheck.... Anyways this post isn't anything real significant or anything. Just excited about my first find of the year. Throughout my whole mushroom eating career I have eaten feild shrooms only a few times (picked by someone else). Most of the shrooms I have done were rice cake shrooms. As far as hunting them goes, I have been hunting several times with no success. I have only picked my own shrooms once about 5 years ago, and they were stupid ass pan-subbs. A hundred of em will barely get you a level 2 buzz. However, I ran into someone recently that said they knew where a reliable feild was, but they haven't been out there in a long time. I was like "Let's Go!". So we went two days after it rained for a while (the hurricane) only cause something came up on the day we were supposed to go. Still within the first 20 minutes we were picking some cubes! There wasn't really shit in the feild, just some stragglers. Plus you could tell that someone else had been there before us. We still got a few hundred grams fresh though, not bad for a first run! Next time we'll just hit it when we are supposed to and hopefully before whoever else gets to them. I know that feild would be bursting with cubes at the right moment. Hell yeah!
Also found some pan subbs, and what I think is panaeolus sidipes (the solid stemmed pans). The latter looks exactly like Copelandia Cyanecens except it doesn't bruise blue, and the stem is solid. Sporeprint was black, the cubes of course were purple. Immediate bluing was noticed on the cubes. I'll have to make sure I get a digi-cam next time. I got a good feeling about this mushroom season!

Things are kickin up......some SUBB clusters can be somewhat quite kickin....others dead......both in the same field......your others what in your area used to be considered Solidipes or Phalaenarum which are synonymous are probably another identical species P. antillarum.....but your right can be identical minus the blue.....can tire quikly of em but there a sign better things are may be on the way.

Haha! Found another feild! This one is north of Greenwood SC! The other feild from the post above is in GA (as are most of them so I've heard).
A freind of mine was hanging out at his grandma's house with some neighborhood kids and they metntioned that the feild four hoses down from my friends grandmas house had shit in it. We looked and found one or two here and there. It hadn't rained in like 5 days with blazin hot sun (temps in the 90's) and we still came across enough for both of us to trip ULTRA nuts that night.
Can't wait till it rains!

Panaaeolus subbalteatus only takes one fresh ounce or 3-5 dried grams. It is the exact weight dosage as P. cubensis. SO I doubt that you could of ate 100 pan subbs.
I have collected them on and off for over thirty years and ev everyone who ate some all reported a good high on less the 20 mushrooms.
I have no idea what you ate.

Well, I have heard stories of weak Pan. Subbs. It's been so long since that day, but it was probably a mixture of subbs and foenesecii or however you spell it. They were definitely Panaeolus cause of shape, size, spore color, etc. Most were presumed to be Pan. Subbs because they had the rings on the caps, andthey had minor bluing at the base of the stem. But yeah we ate many mushrooms that day, at least 150 between all of us (they were young and small). Definitely a Panaeolus mix though, as I have seen at least one or two other types of Pans growing together down here everytime.
