Humanure another look
    #574979 - 03/10/02 12:11 PM (22 years, 24 days ago)

The post on human shit tek might have been a joke, but I feel experiments in this direction have merit. I live on a commune that has an organic orchard. Needless to say the supply of vegan organic poop is not a problem. Many self sustaining communes across the country and world compost their own shit and use it on there food crops. Many people use the addition of a solor oven to sterelize the shit before they spread it on the field. Red worms can be used to digest and transform humanure into red worm castings. This alone could provide an interesting experiment. I propose then two experiments which I will perform.
The first will be to find, if there is one, the optimum time for the compost run an straight turned humanure. The second would be to let the red worms at it and use that compost. I'm going to have to wait untill it warms up around here to this experiment, I aint composting that shit in my friggen house. Just a week ago it was -10f. For that matter I am not doing anything fungus related as I heat my house off a wood stove and can't maintain regular temps yet. If electric heat is used it will blow the amprige on the house. Other wise I'd be right on it.
I'll Keep yall posted
Peace

I think it's a good idea. If you eat lots of mature shrooms, you won't even have to inoculate...
