if it wet enough to grow mushrooms then you surely have a case of stachybotrys growing inside those walls. how is the sinus infection treating you? Cant shake it can you?

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Feelers, how are you going to manage this over growth?  It seems like the infestation is beyond controlling- short of bulldozing the house and starting fresh.... It is not healthy to live there.  I hope you are planning a way to deal with this.  :undecided:

Nah I'm getting out, a friend is moving in there. The rent's real cheap and those pics make the place seem worse than it is, having said that they guy obviously bought the worst house in the best neighborhood, it will clearly be demolished within a few years so he can sell the section.

I did get sick quite a bit, and last year I got a-typical pneumonia infection in my lungs, from a thing called Mycoplasma I think.

The mushrooms love you.  :happyheart:

But seriously, does your friend know about all this?

yeah, that house is probably unlivable, from a health standpoint. a person would be better off in an aluminum shed. ...providing the shed had broadband of course.

Yeah they know about it - they are getting the landlord to sort it out, apparently it isnt too bad but I think they guy only checked the roof, not the wall and floor.

I think they are gonna try and get the rent dropped too. (as you would!)

Turns out mycoplasma is a bacterial infection, it was pretty freaky at the time, I was wearing long pants, 2 shirts and a hoodie under two duvet covers and I was shivering intensly, "cold so cold".

if there are fungi within the dry wall sufficient to make them grow from the walls then the damage has been done, the health thread is there and getting rid of the water after that point is not going to help.

if the walls where all to be refinished and the rot all removed, then there is the almost inevitable damage to the frame members to deal with. it would be a big job.

the landlord may well have to accept that the house may be done for, unless it's worth more than the hassle and expense.

a house in that condition would be demed unsuitable for human habitation in the us, though i've spent time living in structures in such condition. i wouldn't do it by choice.

Same as in Canada, but also the landlord would/could be up on charges of criminal neglagence and/or reckless endangerment and would receive fines and up to 10 years in prison for renting out a place in that condition.

no such thing as 'suing' here in NZ, you can take someone to court but compensation is unlikely as americans would get. if you took the landlord to court, all that would most likly happen is he is forced to fix the house..

I know, NZ is crazy.

Seriously dude, how can you let your friend move in though? i mean really, i think it would be wise for you AND your friends to just forget that place ever existed and move far away from it.

I would be worried about mold that would probably growing along with the fungus. Mold can have serious and deadly effects. Move the hell out.
