cows normaly eat grains and grasses, it's not like we butcher people and feed them to cows, we reserve hogs for that and also dont grow on pig poo

not something you'd need to worry about, especialy if you're cultivating them, the concentrations woulld be so minute it would have no effect on you

I'm no expert, but I believe those toxic chemicals are in such a small proportion that it is the lifetime exposure that you need to be concerned about, similar to radiation. I don't know anyone that eats shrooms everyday. In fact, I know only a very few people who eat them more than a couple of times per year.
At that exposure level, standing on the street is far more likely a health risk than growth hormones, pesticides, etc. in your shrooms. Were talking micrograms per year here.
But, while on the subject, their has been alot of research done lately that shows that some shrooms have a knack for 'absorbing'(for lack of a better word and the understanding of how it works) many toxic compounds, including harmful forms of radiation and petrochemicals. Some mycologists believe that certain fungi may be the answer to many toxic waste clean up efforts in the future.
However, I have not seen any information that points to P. Cubensis standing out in that regard. Nor have I seen anything where P. Cubensis was even tested for this ability. But, from what I have heard, most fungi have this ability to one degree or another.
Cheers,
