well i woke up this morning, as always going into my garden for a inspection. overnight i now have a black aphid infestation on my persian whites. so far my hen and chicks are fine and almost ready to flower. this late in the season im not sure if these insects can do to much damage as flowering should occur sometime this week or next. will these juice suckers od when flowering starts? i think im going to have to break down and by some pyrethiums. i do have green aphids on my morning glories but they dont even show the slightest damage after a month. the black aphids seem to be larger and stronger then the green type. i tried to lightly pressure spray them off with with the hose but they maintained there foot hold and i realized all i was doing was brusing the cells in the leaf. anyone have any experience with these things?

Do you really wanna poison your plants? I would just wash them off with a good spray from a hose.

problem is these have a real foot hold. in order for the spray to remove them the pressure is so high it hurts the plant. pyrethiums come from chrysanthium extract its organic and not toxic to mammals(supposedly).

Kills bugs with no poison made of fish oil. Aphids are pretty easy to kill use it one day rinse it off the next.

ok they have doubled in numbers and are draining juices from the stem. now i have bugs inside and outside what a pain. well i dont have any organicide and if i released ladybugs outside they would fly away. desperate measures today as it may be this one plants last chance(luckily there are more). im boiling water then im going to add tobacco and detergent. we will see if they are tough enough to handle that. if they are i will have to go anothe step further. i know tobacco defienetly makes spider mites sick as hell but doesnt usually kill them so lets hope this works.

well my girl is out of town so i had to make do with what i could. i boiled a package of drum tobacco in water then added to the sprayer with detergent. i sprayed them they sure dont have the vigor the bugs once had they definetely look poisoned. hopefull this tobacco reidue will rinse off so i can make tea. well i feel a little naususe also i think i sprayed to much on my hand while holding leaves so i could get to the undersides. but my stomache usually hurts in the morning. i really dont know what they are because they look identical to a aphid but are black and larger then the green kind and most definetly tougher. when i searched i came up with black aphids but i really dont know.
