Use lite for casing?

Hay you guys i just cast my jar 2 days a go do i need to give it some lite ,...I have a pice of tin foil over it ??? Also I have spread some jiffy mix litely on the top and mosit it .... Now will the myceluim grow over the soil ?? or will it just pin right through it???? please post ...

the myceluim will grow into the casing layer. when about 30% of the surface is covered, take the foil off and expose it to light and put it in the terrarium and give it pinning conditions. The pins will form on the spots where the mycelium has grown through the casing. do not let the mycelium cover too much of the casing layer else you will get overlay.

It can take about 1 week to two depending on casing layer and depth.:)bluhoney
