Just another walk, until...
    #5752207 - 06/15/06 02:10 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I found these guys under a tree, I doubt they're worth anything.

Am I wrong?

Habitat: Found growing on the ground next to a tree growing through red cedar chips.

Gills: Dark brown, not attached to stem.

Stem: White, flimsy.

Cap: Brown to white radial gradient, gills dark brown.

Spore print: -need to learn how to do this-

Bruising: Bruise on cap and stem.

Location: Picked in Northern, NJ. Near NYC.

They appear to be of the genus Coprinus.  Heh, the caps will likely turn to slimy ink before you can get a spore print

They are not the trippy sort, and in this condition they are not worth eating, although most species of Coprinus are edible.
Dun eat them.

I agree that it's probably an old coprinus specimen.
