All of these mushrooms were picked in Portland, Oregon after several days of rain about 2 weeks ago. Not really looking for ID's unless you think you can or if you want too. Just thought it was really cool that soo many different kinds of mushrooms grow in 1 small park.
Mushroom # 1 Found in grassy areas. Spore print is dark brown. [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034498429-thumb_DSCN3436.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034498434-thumb_DSCN3360.jpg[/image] [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034555282-thumb_DSCN3369.jpg[/image]
Mushroom # 2 Found growing off of a tree stump in the shade Grow in a big group surrounded by about 5 other mushroom Don't know how to do a spore print with a mushroom that grows inverted like this. [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034498444-thumb_DSCN3350.jpg[/image] Mushroom #3 Found in grass Spore print was black [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034498448-thumb_DSCN3361.jpg[/image] A bunch of other mushrooms that I found that day- [image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-24/034498453-thumb_DSCN3349.jpg[/image]
I like everything about mushrooms- active or non-active. They look cool, can make me feel really cool, taste cool, and stuff..

Hey man welcome here
You might want to fix the links, just copy and paste them, dont use the image 'code'
Very cool that your interested in shrooms, but this is the wrong forum,
Hopefully a mod will move it there, and read the first few post, they will help you out
And you will need more info for a proper ID, but good job so far

#1 looks like Panaeolina foenisecii, a dark brown spore print would especially suggest so. Are you sure that first pic is the same species as the others from group "#1"?
#2 looks too dry/old to tell to me. Both Panaeolus and Psathyrellas can grow in grass and have black spore prints.
The #3 looks like a coprinus.
The rest seem to be a mixed collection.. I see some possible pans and possible coprinus in there, along with some other things.

Hmm, it looks like some of those Panaeolus mushrooms that Eris mentioned are indeed Pan. foenisecii, but in the picture with the spore prints, it appears that some may also have a black spore print. Black spore print of those panaeolus is likely Pan. subbalteatus, but as Eris said, there's quite the grab bag of mushrooms there, and unless you know how to ID panaeolus from the bunch, I'd steer clear.

I'm assuming that you are hoping for some actives? If none of them are bruising blue(sign of psilocin, stuff that makes you trip) then don't even bother posting them..unless you are hoping for some edibles in you're batch. And "just wanting to find out what they are but planing on throwing them away anyway" is just a waste of mycologist peeps time. This should be said to all the noobs on here.
My 2 cents..

Bill Clinton "A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly fifteen hundred pounds of marijuana within about 15 minutes to induce a lethal response... In strict medical terms, marijuana is far safer than many of the foods we commonly consume. For example, eating ten raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death." DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis L. Someone correct me if I am wrong but from what I have read most subbs don't bruise blue and they are active so a black spore print is usually what is needed to identify them.

Mr_Psilocin, That is generally a fair rule of thumb, but not a rule void of exceptions. This is why it takes many different aspect of the mushroom and careful observation to make a positive ID. As you may well know, there are poisonous mushrooms that bruise blue too.
begahouse, you're on the dot with this one. Active Pans will sometimes but not always bruise blue. Best bet is to check the base of the stem where some mycellium may still be attached, and look for a subtle tinge of blue.... DON'T smoosh it like you would beefy cubes to try and get blue- all you will get is a limp shroom! You will sacrifice potency and slash any chance of seeing blue

I still think people should'nt post random mushrooms and hope for them to be active. They should do some research and find out what actives tend to look like. But serriously it's stupid to post a mushroom that don't bruise blue (except for pans lol) cause theres a DARN HIGH chance it's not active.
Unless you want to know if it is edible and planning on eating it, spare some room in the hunting forum and don't post them..

Yes, I'm with Eris. The board would be boring otherwise, and most of the folk who post ID request know little to nothing about mushrooms, so you cannot expect them to know about the common blue bruising... And giving faulty information, or in this case, implying that actives will always bruise blue, is unecessary and worse in my opinion than claiming ignorance.
The only actives I have found have been Pan. subbs, and Psil. semilanceata- neither of which displayed intense or noticeable blueing.
