My friend has been trying to grow on and off for about a year now. he's read lots of teks and goten some B+ syringes. he's successfully made jar after jar of thick white mycelilum, very few contams. first he started off with a rubbermaid container, perlite, 5 cakes, checked temp at 75 daily and plenty of humidity and got hardly anything.

recently he got a regular 10 gallon fish tank. he took 3 cakes and cased with jiffymix and water, checked temp at 75 daily, 100% humidity, fanned daily. the cakes did nothing, no sign of growth at all, no contams either. does my friend need to get some kind of air exchange system, maybe co2 build up or somthing is stoping growth? he thought fanning would surfice. plenty of light. he has a heating pad under the tank to regulate temp. if any of these things are clearly a problem to you more experienced growers, then what kind air exchange and temp system should he look for?

my friend is getting so fed up that he thinks he should save up alot of money for a professional tank or somthing like the Hydro-pod ( www.myco-tek.com ). my friend thanks anyone that can help.
