dried and hardened myc bag
    #5749826 - 06/14/06 02:12 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

One myco bag I have was left incubating too long and hardened up. I carefully crumbled and cased with jiffy mix to hopefully help the moisture content, a day after, up pops cobwebs. I removed the casing layer and am misting the sides of the fruiting chamber. Is all hope lost?I know they are tough bastards to kill. Would misting the hardened clumps directly help or should this even matter? Thanx

Sounds like you didn't use enough water for your substrate.

And yes all hope is pretty much lost, once contams show up that is usually the end of that batch. :frown:

Cobweb can be easily killed with 3% peroxide right out of the bottle. Just spray it on. I'd suggest getting rid of the cobweb, then dunking for 12 hours, then recase with fresh pasteurized casing material.
