Im new to the game so i started with PF cakes they were ok got shrooms off em bout 5 per cake max. Bit poor when i see the pics. anyway ive dunked and cased with minor improvement in yields. Are yields affected by too much heat? (im using a heated propergator, it has a heated mat at the base.) The stems of the shrooms are pure white and flimsy. most of the pins that form stop growing when the get one cm long. What is going on? im gonna try WBS

I would not use the heat mat. B+ grows massive mushrooms given proper substrate/depth/conditions...

I used B+ on cakes for my first grow and got about an ounce and a quarter off of 10 cakes and two flushes. Yeilds vary alot but if you want better yeilds try B+ in birdseed spawned to poo, htey will get huge!! If it is possible to use poo look in the bulk substrate section. If you can do cakes you can do poo, it is no harder. Good luck and keep a good eye on those temps.

Yeah, I don't even bother with B+ unless spawning into h/poo. If you've been using MS innocs, you might want to try isolating a meaty mushroom for a good substrain.

Am I right to do... 1. get a WBS cake which is fully colonized 2. put it in a baggie whith sterilzed BONE DRY horse poo 3. put the mix in a container and case with 60/40 4. play the waiting game

b+ is popular because its easier to grow for a noobie like me. i choose it and it done fine. cakes are on their 3rd flush and there are a couple big one already growing.
im going to do a straw casing with an isolate of b+ wish me luck.
casing are easy, just soak for 24hours with a LITTLE bleach then pasterize for 3 hours at 160f, hang and let it drain, then spawn grains or cakes to the straw and let it incubate, giving it fresh air.
couildn't be simplier

Your heat is to high, it's causing your mushrooms to abort.
Use perlite only humidifcation inside a airtight container, mist and fan three to four times a day, once in the morning once in the afternoon and once before bed.
That is if your only doing a couple of cakes and keep them all in one container, you'll be fine remove that heat source.

sorry, I just seen accesstwo's post and thought i'd correct a few things.
1, you dont soak any substrate materials in bleach, you use a H2O2 solution, a capful of peroxcide for every 1litre of water.
2, pasturization occures when the straw/poo is submerged in water being held at 170F for 1 hour, no more no less, any longer and you will kill the natural immune system.
3, when you spawn you cover your container with tinfoil and poke a few holes for some air circulation you do not want to remove it and fan or anything.
Im not going to flame or anything because ive given bad advice when I first started, but please, that could have caused a huge waste of materials accesstwo.

Hi. Im new to this forum, but i saw the b+ post. I decide, after a small PF cake mushroom growing experience 6 yers ago, to start againg(well, it's more my friend who wanted to grow some, and since he never done it and i did, I joint to help him and we split the cost and the yeild 50/50)I ordered a b+ syringue from sporelab. We decide rye seed an peatmoss/sand/oyster shell/vermiculite casing http://www.shroomery.org/index.php/par/7973 . Here's what it look like: I think it is very small for some B+ shroom. Here's what I think went wrong:
1-i think we spread our seed too much. We had about ½-¾ inch of rye seed for about the same amount of casing. Is it possible that the shroom "run out" of nutriment, an so didn't fruit big? I read the ratio should be 4 mycelium for 1 casing (in height) but my friend wanted to try this.
2- It was my friend who "time" the birth of our casing. I think he may had wait just a little bit too much(1 or 2 days)(dont forget it's is first time)
3-After the "birth" of our casing, we put it in a terrarium with perlite. We did manage to keep a 87%hum. but the temps was about 70-73 °f. BUT, we put our terrarium in one of his closet, with a normal lampe(60w incadescent) on 12/12 on/off. For almost 1½ week, nothing happen. them i told him we shold put the terrarium next to a windows, instead of using the lamp. 1½ week later, i took this picture.
I dont really mind for this yeild being not that big. I was thinking of using one of the shroom we would get to isolate his strain an start something bigger. But now, since the shroom MUST have been limited somewhere, I think only the strongest shroom/best grow potency have grow, so i should still be able to have great result isolating a strain?
What do you guys(an maybe girls) think?
P.S. I love this site, much of info, with pic, an people to chat with about your good or bad experience. I cant wait to try those shroom, cauze they're a french proverb that say "les meilleurs onguants sont dans les petits pots"
