Ok so the jars are going fine, showing growth, and are in a good temp range, BUT...they look dry. I know people leave the lids on during colonization but the cakes inside just look way too dry. On some of the not so full jars there is a little condensation on the walls, but in most of the jars the substrate looks like its loosing all its moisture. The jars are in a wooden box with a set of curlers (for hair) in there for heat. it stay between 80-85 but I don't have a temp. The curlers are about 6 inches away from the jars and in total darkness. Should I get rid of the curlers and just let them be at 70 degrees? Or is it just my imagination that the jars look dry? BTW they are BRF in 1 pint at a 3:1:1 ratio of verm:brf:water (in cups). Thanks guys.

A heat rock used for reptiles works good to. Just put it in the general vacinity of the jars, not to close. The radiant heat will keep it warm enough.:)bluhoney
