straw and flux (ideas/comments please!)

My sisters fetus has grown on straw with birdseed (by the way 50/50 bs/verm is awesome) as the innoculant and is now trying the standard PF jar as the innoculant. Fetus is having problems. The whole environment is different and there were a few tweaks. First the straw got up to 175 degrees and hung there a while during the pasturization. The jars were ground but not with the coffee grinder as is suggested but with a blender. This was kinda clumpy. This PF innoculant was spread throughout the straw. THe tubs were then put in their usual electric blanket but as noted above the environment was different so it was difficult to get the temp steady. It ranged from 68-91 for the first 24 hours. It has since become stable at 83-88. At the 24 hour inspection there was some vigorouse growth. Since stabalizing temp at the 48 hour mark the straw appeared dry on top. It was misted. It was also noted that the myc growth seemed reduced.

So, is there just too much that is too irregular and it's fucked and fetus should throw them out or should the little devoloping baby play the old wait and see?

Fetus says it's going on day 4.
