how can you keep the bag from touching the sides of the PC?
the only way to find out for yourself if 10psi will work is to try it on a few jars. im not sure but i bet it would.

I tie my bags into shape with cotton string. Don't use nylon... it melts.

to keep the bag away from the sides of the pc i put a towel around the bag and tie the top of the towel with some thread or yarn...

Yes you can pressure cook Rye at 10 psi.
You just have to cook it longer.

RoadKill is right-- just extend PC time. But, 15 PSI is better, @ 10 PSI -- suggest a presoak & boil -- first. Wash off the starch & crud aftewards, then PC. SixTango -- out.

Hey Thanx alot for the response guys! (or gals),
Im currently running a test on a one pint jar with rye, just started about fifteen minutes ago. (from when the little rocker thingy started movin), I didnt however, do that starch gunk wash+boil, i didnt see the post in time.  I am going to let it go for about 1 3/4 hours.  I will keep ya updated with what happens in the next week or so, see if it contams or not.  I REALLY need to buy a new PC however, it only holds 4 pint/half-pint jars (cheapest walmart one i could find), but boy did i get a deal on the rye, 55 cents a lb
Thanx again

You should ebay a new PC..  I got an 8qt presto for 31 bucks + 9 bucks shipping...  Just spend about 2-3 days hunting and you'll probably find a similiar deal.
