hmmm, i suppose u have got a point there, that would be like someone banning screwdrivers because somebody got stabbed with one, and of course its the screwdriver's fault. Freidrick Nietzche was another one, the father of modern psychology - Jung would be nothing without him.

why are psychedellicly minded people obsesed by snakes and stuff? You left out the word "some". With at least 50 excursions under my belt and not one single snake, reptile or dragon, these archetypes may not be as common as you think, unless I just am not doing a "heroic" enough dose!

fair enough - to tell u the truth I havent seen any reptillian visions, but the fact is that its still an important symbol, the biblical connection. I just wondered whether anyone has any philosophical knowledge of the origins?

why are psychedellicly minded people obsesed by snakes and stuff? I was subtley contacted by a snake-being on mushrooms sometime around last fall... Since then the experiences have been increasing in frequency and intensity. My spine has begun to protrude, and I have noticed the snake dwelling inside me. I havn't discovered many answers to why they are in my body, but I am alot clearer on why they are always mentally present. I say "they" but actually -they- are -One- being.. I meet different faces of the One, as in some Eastern religons I've began reading about. My first meeting was motherly and gentle, it was the most loving experience I can remember. My second meeting was with the fatherly masculine face of the serpent, and that was the most terrifying experience in my memory... This is when It entered my body. I made some kind of deal with it on another level, and realizing the necessity, I accepted. I have constant visions of snakes now, but I seem to only be able to fully communicate with them on mushrooms. I always know when It is awake because fiery energy ignites in my chest area. It's very intense, overwhelming at times... To stay alive I must balance out the love and fear I have for this force, cuz there are definately 2 sides to the snake. It tells me that It has to be confronted for me to achieve what is planned. I have to work with it to learn and grow. This serpent force is called Kundalini in some places... I have learned first-hand that It is the power behind evolution. It is our mother and father in the sense that we are mother and fathers to computers, cars, and airplanes. It gave us things in It's image (the reproductive, digestive and nervous systems are all It's domain), as we do when we create things. The "God" and "Satan" of the Bible are just different aspects of this force (Light and Dark, hot and cold, male and female, positive and negative), and the seperation between the two provides us the oppurtunity to experience and learn new things, to grow and die. I know 90% of those who read this will think I have a mental disease, but I'm providing it for the small chance that someone else knows what I'm talking about PS- I wrote this quickly and am leaving out alot of information... feel free to ask me questions if your truely interested.

I was subtley contacted by a snake-being on mushrooms sometime around last fall... Since then the experiences have been increasing. Was this shortly after tripping and watching that 70s movies "Hsssssss" where Michael Sarrazin turns into a snake? My spine has begun to protrude, What does spinal degeneration have to do with anything? Snakes do not have protruding spines. ...and I have noticed the snake dwelling in my testicles Well, it IS almost springtime when urges are strongest. My first meeting was motherly and gentle, it was the most loving experience i can remember. That is how they entice you. My second meeting was with the fatherly masculine face of the serpent, and that was the most terrifying experience in my memory... This is when It entered my body. Were you in prison? I havn't discovered many answers to why they are in my body, but I am alot clearer on why they are always present now. Which is it - clarity or confusion? I made some kind of deal with it on another level, and realizing the necessity, I accepted. You can always "unmake" the deal. Snake-creatures' soul pacts do not stand up in court. I have constant visions of snakes now, but I seem to only be able to fully communicate with them on mushrooms. Lay low on the shroomage until your brain chemistry renormalizes... I always know when It is awake because fiery energy ignites in my chest area. Angina? Heart-burn? Stay off the spicey food. To stay alive I must balance out the love and fear.. Fail to balance these energies and you will STILL be alive (a fantasy cannot harm you), unless you are talking about suicide in which case you need IMMEDIATE help. This serpent force is called Kundalini in some places... And borderline psychosis in other areas... I know 90% of those who read this will think I have a mental disease... Well your precognitive powers and statistical analysis are working just fine.

raaa fuckety blah blah - we evolved from reptiles, maybe the big old asteroid that hit the earth didn't actually kill off the reptiles but the intense radiation burst from the impact caused massive mutation creating mammals - the nemesis of the dinosaurs. Maybe this imagery of reptililian forces comes from our medula the part of the brain which is retilian in nature. Certain drugs stimulate the medula feorcing our thought patters in to indifferent unquestioning observers of life. I think it was in howard marks dope stories book that i read that lizards donot question their own existence they simply accept it and live it. maybe we are conditioning our thoughts to becoming less human and more reptilian in essence devoloving ourselves - but maybe duie to the cyclic nature of life the universe and everything we must return to our roots to evolve into a higher species. "Speculation and bullshit is the food of the mind" - theres a quote for you thats what i say!!!! I hate coming down off speed arghhhh!

adamist i find your descriptions of kundalini yoga quite interesting. i have read a little on the subject, not much, but have never actually heard of it described in terms of a being... interesting, just never thought of it that way. this guy came to my school last year and gave a lecture on kundalini. basically i guess once all your chakras are open the kundalini energy, described as a coiled snake at the base of the spine, uncoils and shoots up your spine. its supposed to be really intense, and some people access it too early before they are ready and are traumatized by it because they weren't ready for it to happen. good luck realizing your kundalini power bro all aboard poopship

A.Of course the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs didn't kill off all the reptiles,we have reptiles today B.Mammals were already in existense at the time of the dinosaurs in small mouse-like animals C.I refer to my earlier posts as possible explanations **** says what?

Humans in general seem to be fascinated by snakes and reptiles. They have a hypnotic way of moving which might explain why we attach so much mythology to them.
The aboriginals in many parts of Australia had a rainbow serpent in their creation stories. It was not seen as evil like the christian snakes. I don't know of any traditional psychedelic usage by the aborigines - a native form of nicotine is the only drug I have heard of them using.

The aborigines did not ingest psychoactive materials, but they espoused an intensely psychedelic mythological narrative called the Dreamtime which ordered their culture. It was a paradoxical animist framework.
