One of my friends brf/verm cakes is fruiting as we speak, but its purple. It doesn't appear to be affecting the growth, but its rather off putting.
--edit--
Ok, So I did a bit of searching and I think its pink mold

I'm just retarded today, I meant purple .. as in the colour you get when you add red & blue

Take a q-tip and gently rub the purple area. If any color appears on the q-tip, it's contam'ed. Isolate it from the cakes that are looking okay. It almost looks like spores dropping, but I didn't see any opened caps in your picture. I would vote contam, but the q-tip will tell.

Those look like spores to me. If you let some fruits from a previous flush open up than its spores. Notice how the go out and cover the pearlite, If it is not under the top layer of pearlite then its spores. But if not...I have no clue what that is growing.

its not spores.. its the first flush of these cakes.. and it spread to a second cake.. check out the cake next to the purple one.
theres a purplish section on the nearest flush to that cake, and the stem of the mushroom is going purplish too. besides, the spores for this species are very dark blue/back.

It's kinda hard to tell wtf that is if you're sure it's not spores. My two cakes look purple as those you got right there but I'm definitely sure that mine got spores on them from the other cakes. I'm still looking that one shroom at the front of the picture. Doesn't that shroom had open it's cap? I mean sometimes some mushies mature or just develop earlier to that stage for some reason. Even if that shroom doesn't look mature. How did that color spread? Is there any other symptoms? Smells? Odd development of shrooms? If I was you and got myself convinced it's not spores I'd rather quarantine those cakes somewhere and see does the purple colour occur after that where it wasn't before. Dunno. Can you put another picture from different angle maybe?

I've already thrown it out, but on the purplish cake the mushrooms that were growing off it were becoming deformed - 2 caps and twisted stems =/.
But I would like an ID so I know how to prevent this happening in the future.. cause I've never seen this before

I had hoped it was spores, but it happens. You will probably want to do a 200:1 water/bleach dunk with the remaining cakes (for about 30 minutes)--which can eliminate contams. on the surface at least.
