Ring Tones Adults Can't Hear (LMAO!)

NEW YORK, June 12 (UPI) -- Cunning U.S. teenagers have turned a disruptive noise technology to their advantage by adapting it to a cell phone ring tone that adults can't hear.
Last year, Compound Security in Wales invented a sound generator called the Mosquito that emits an annoying sound only young people can hear, and now markets the device to prevent loitering around commercial properties.
But that same 17-kilohertz sound is now circulating on the Internet and being downloaded as a ring tone that students are using in schools where most teachers over 30 can't hear them, the New York Times reported. The teacher-proof tone is handy for alerting a student of an incoming text message, the report said.
"Our high-frequency buzzer was copied. It is not exactly what we developed, but it's a pretty good imitation," said Simon Morris, marketing director for Compound Security. "You've got to give the kids credit for ingenuity."

the thing about all these articles, and there are a few, noone lists where you can get the ringtone...
-------------------- PEACE
zippoz "in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

Indeed. I could hear it fine, even at a low volume... but then, I am only sixteen (don't assume base ten).

wow.. that's the exact sount the tv makes when you turn it on...
kinda like if someone blindfolded you and took you into a room with a tv on mute, you can tell that it's there by this kind of sound.

Wow, that came through loud and clear. There are actually people who can't hear it?
Maybe my headphones make it sound lower than it really is...

Is there anybody that didn't ear it? Wow! Cubensis mushrooms cure deafness! This is typical of the quality of antidrug research. Heck, we might even have a few more people than the typical sample space size. Perhaps we should publish?

yea it's cool on your pc, but when you put that on a cell phone...
Seriously i don't know any cell phone that can support this through the speakers.
My roommate has the newest LG qwerty cell phone, with dual speakers and still sounds shitty... prolly some european cellphones might? but even then Psh-wah!

Here I am thinking that I was the only person able to hear that damn sound the TV makes when it is turned on.
No one I know is able to hear that kind of sound.

> Here I am thinking that I was the only person able to hear that damn sound the TV makes when it is turned on.
The last TV I bought, the sales guy kept giving me crap because I went from model to model until I found one that didn't make a high pitched whine. He must have thought I was crazy. (They also used to give me crap at work because I always wore ear plugs in the machine room. I measured, and it was 87 db in there with all the air conditioners and computer fans going. I value hearing, and protect my ears!)
