San Pedro Nub Question
    #5745008 - 06/13/06 07:09 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hey yall. I was just wondering if anyone could assist me with my query about San Pedro. I've been doing some research online, and have come across many photos and lots of good information about it and all that. But, I'm not 100% sure if ive got one in my yard or not. it looks nearly identicaly to the ones ive seen in certain pictures, although each plant has its own fluke that makes it different from the next, thus making it hard to identify for an inexperienced person like me. Can anyone give me some solid information on the physical features, which I can use as definate means to identify this cacti. I'd say I'm about 90% sure this is T. Pachonoi, but I dont want to eat the wrong kind. Are there any san pedro look alikes?

Yeah... there are certain feature that could be described. But you're going to have a hard time making use of those specific details if even looking at pictures of other pachanoi doesn't help you.

A look-alike is a subjective term. To some here, only certain cacti that are very simillar are look-alikes, and generally only because people take bad pictures. :P But to you, a Cereus Peruvianus might be a 'look-alike' to a pachanoi, because you have no idea how to identify cacti, even though it would jump out as WRONG to most of us here.

Post a picture.

i'll try and borrow my friends camera. but in the mean time, i was hoping for some solid pointers? i hear when you cut it, san pedro bleeds clear and most others bleed white? well i did a cut test, cut about an inch chunk out of the middle and didnt see any bleeding.
