    #5745662 - 06/13/06 12:58 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I just recently got into techno after going to a psychedelic trance festival. I've been listining to crystal method and wichdokta lately and it sounds like great music to put on when I'm  :mushroom2:ing.

What kind of techno do you guys litsten to when your trippin?
I've heard some talk about shpongle on the boards, are they any good? What's there best album?

There is infinite amounts of techno out there, and in my opinion, the best stuff isnt mainstream.

I would list the artists I like, but it would be too long, and listing just a few would be an injustice to the others. The electronic music scene is HUGE...there is endless music.

Infected Mushroom > * though
Paladin 5.1 > * for live shows

Ahhh...so much good music... 2.5 weeks till the cave party!

I listen to a lot of electronic music, primarily goa/psytrance and downtempo. The best music for tripping IMO is psytrance; the following albums are some of my favorites of the (massive) genre:

Astral Projection - 1997 - Dancing Galaxy
Astral Projection - 1999 - Another World
Juno Reactor - 1996 - Beyond the Infinite
Antix - 2005 - Twin Coast Discoveries
Mr Peculiar - 2005 - Mind-Dala
Man With No Name - 1996 - Moment of Truth
Alien Project - 2001 - Midnight Sun
Younger Brother - 2003 - A Flock of Beeps

Check out an awesome music video animation (excellent for tripping) of Mr Peculiar's stuff for free at www.syncrosect.com (great DVD too).

My favorite album by Shpongle is Tales of the Inexepressable because it's fairly upbeat and entertaining.

Are you Shpongled? is good for sleeping, because there's a lot of dripping water and running water sounds.

Nothing Lasts, But Nothing is Lost is good for tripping, and if you ever hear it you'll understand why.

Get Worlds & Dreams by Misery Signals. They are some crappy hardcore band, but Worlds & Dreams is some mellow instrumental song. It's sooo good. Play it backwards too.

You are insane.  Sleeping?  That album is THE trippiest album anyone will ever hear.  Easily.  The furthest thing from my mind when tripping to that album is sleep.

Sleep?

actually I used to fall asleep to Are You Shpongled? like every night for months on end.  It's a great tripping album also, especially for those trips we call "dreams"

You don't find the running and dripping water sounds relaxing?
Trippy the album is, but it's not intense trippiness, it's sort of mellow. Divine Moments of Truth in particular.

However, if you trip to it, more power to you.

It's relaxing, but not to the point of sleep... especially while tripping.

Whilst I couldn't sleep to it, I also find that Are You Shpongled? is a very relaxing album.

Having said that, I did listen to Behind Closed Eyelids once in a lucid dream.

Hell yeah, thanks for all the info guys!

I love trippin out to techno, it's like I visualize every little sound as a bunch of colorful shapes and objects dancing and racing around behind my closed eyes.

How in gods name can you place darude and tiesto in the same catergory as orbital. Darude = cheesy cookie cutter frat boy trance. Tiesto = slow, boring, cookie cutter trance + horrible mixing skill X his god complex.
