Dinner Tonight
    #5744531 - 06/13/06 12:04 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

Went hunting today and found some mushrooms. Which ones do you think I should eat for dinner tonight?

I have eaten them all before but not sure what I feel like tonight.

Id suggest you eat the Lactarius Deliciosus. Only way i know to eat Boletus is dried in a soup.

EDIT: Lol, I knew i got those terms wrong, cheers for the heads up.

That was the plan. I am looking for a good recipe for the Lactarius Deliciosus. The Boletus were a bit old and I prefer Lactarius over Boletus any day.

The top two are Amanita Muscaria.

Have you tried Boletus edulis or a couple of its counterparts......unsurpassed.......Yours are Suillus species and always seriously lacking except for Suillus pungens under Pinus radiata very simliar to your Suillus species there......we dont eat Delisiosa here cause its far from it for some reason in this part of the world.

Over here the Muscaria would be by far the best on the plate........thats my vote......prime pics....

So how good are those boletus in pics 3 and 4 to eat? I've seen thousands of them, I was wondering how tasty they are.

And you arent keen on pics one and two for dinner?

how did you cook those Suillus puppies? i've been wondering about those too - especially if picked before pores darken from that mustard yellow. There are heaps under pines here in Wellington.
What are they like?

I have tried then a few ways. I always peal off the skin and cut off the stems and use fresh buttons as the older ones can get a bit squishy.

I had some tonight in a stew sliced in big chunks. Or the other way is thinly sliced and cooked in a fry pan with butter salt and pepper.
