please help me identify these
    #5743453 - 06/12/06 08:08 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I was hunting earlier today and I found a fungi I'm not familiar with and I was wondering if one of you more knowledgeable types could help me identify it.

White flesh, conal caps, blackish/blushing fins under the caps, the stems don't bruise but the caps bruise blue (I think that could be because of the color of the fins though). They were growing in a cow pasture (more specifically in the manure) and most of them were growing in shady areas under trees. They're all really young so I don't know what color the spores are.

PLEASE HELP!

Unfortunately I don't have a camera. The caps are brown at the very tip and and look almost pale blue toward the base. The caps are very conal and seperated from the stem even though they are so young, but they dont have the little "veils" on the stems near the caps. The spore print has a purple tinge. The gills are attatched. The stems are estremely narrow the caps are 1 to 1.5 inches tall.

Sorry for the poor analysis...

From what you describe, it looks like you might of found the P. Cubensis but your description is still kinda vauge for me to go out on the limb and say this for certain. Gather the mature specimens and try to accurately ID them useing the guides here at the shroomery. Oh and P. Copeneldia (another active but more potent ratio wise) would also fit that description---especially if the cap is more conal like and the nipple isnt profoundly tinged. Dark Gills and purple/chocolate sporprint in the SOutheast cowpastures is always a plus but you never know.
