In your guy's opinion what is the shortest time & the longest time you can soak WBS for. Also do you prefer to put the WBS in jars and then add water to the jars to soak or just place all the WBS in a bucket and soak it in a bucket?

As far as the length of time it really depends, but the end result should be the same, achieving the most moister. A lot of it is preference,
And I think it's again just preference if you soak in jars or bucket,
I am a bucket guy

I only soak mine for about an hour in some hot ass water. THIS is how I do my WBS.

if you can get the moisture right and don't experience bacterial problems a quick "hot" soak like mentioned or simmer is just fine... if you can save yourself some time then by all means do so
on the other hand, the 24h slow soak allows the seeds to hydrate without the risk of bursting kernels (like with simmering) and at the same time allows bacterial endospores a chance to germinate. endospores are pretty heat resistant and can survive a PC'ing sometimes... but once germinated they're an easy kill. and for this same reason you really won't want to exceed 24h by much or at all, because those germinated endospores will start growing and spreading rapidly, and its not the greatest of ideas to start off with bacterial ridden grains... so 24h is really the sweet spot if you go the slow overnight soak method.

Be aware that the soak/simmer/boil debate on Shroomery is like the Mac vs. PC debate of the mid-80's. Everyone has their favorite.
I boil water, remove water from heat, dump in WBS and let it sit -- with some stirring every now and again -- for about 24-36 hours. The goal of soaking is to fill the grains with as much water as they'll hold so a good way to know when your soak is done is when the water level in your container stops dropping.
So just fill the container with enough water to cover the WBS plus a half-inch. Every time the water drops and the WBS pokes above it, add a bit more. When this stops, your soak is complete.
