    #5741638 - 06/12/06 12:40 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

im preparing some jars for my next batch and i made too much substrate... if i put it into other jars and just don't inject them with spores would they keep or would it just be a waste of time?

Keep them sealed with tyvek and in a cool, dark space and they can keep for at least a month or two if you PC them well before hand.

if properly sterilized and sealed they should last a couple months in the fridge
any longer and they'll probably be too dry

Yes, as long as they're sealed with a material that will not allow evaporation.

I have a bag of corn I sterilized 18 months ago, it took 4 months to dry out and
it never contaminated, it would hold true for about anything, of course with a jar
I recomend covering the top with foil and placing it in a ziplock bag
