using the PF tek, I've got4 cakes in a well-misted 10-gal. tank @ 80?, fanning then 2x a day. They've been in there , and is happening. Nothing. I have tried cold-shocking them, & still nothing. They are all still white & "flat". There is no gray, yellow, fuzz, or anything else. I have been trying this for 2 years, & I always have the same problem. Casing has not worked in the past, either.
Very frustrating, since I started this first of all my friends, & have only had one success. They all have no problem. They are trying to be helpful, but nothing works. Is there any hope?

Keep the temp about 70 for several days. And I would definately case, at least with some damp verm.

make sure your RH is 95% or more, lower temp like max said to 70, then bring it up to 75 or so when you see pins. if you havent had good success then i wouldnt case. just get a lid fill it with wet vermiculite and set the cake on top of the verm. how long have you had them birthed? if its been while, then i would dunk for 12 hours
good luck

They've been birthed for over 3wks.
Any idea the problem c/b??? Maybe it is my mix? Too densly packed? Idunno. I've been using finch seed/verm/brown rice flour + a little flax seed meal. I even sing to them.
I had to throw one of the cakes away this morning due to green fuzzies. I am praying this didn't affect the others. Another looks like it may be ready to pinnnnnnnnnn (teeny-tiny white spots & clusters), but it has some white fuzz.
???!!!!!
I will try the wet verm in a lid. Good idea. Thanx

Damn man, this is my first try and i have 4 cakes and they have been birthed for about 1 week now and i am now getting pins on my cakes, it was weird though i turned my cakes over and i seen like 50 pins on my 4 cakes, but they are only growing on the bottom of my cakes, my temp is 75 degrees, and i am using peralight as a humidifier. it is about 98%-99% humidty in my terarrium, check the bottom of your cakes, you might of had same problem as me. and also are you giving the cakes light, i give my cakes about 12/12 hours of in direct light/dark and mine is working out nicely, im also using a heat pad underneath my terrarium to keep the heat and the humidity up. do what they said turn down the heat to about 70 untill you see pinning, and fan out your terrarium everyday about 3-5 times to keep the co2 down. Good luck, these percautions have worked for me and my first time.

Take the cake put it back into the jar.......fill the jar up with water....then put the lid on.
You can put it in the frig or leave it on the counter.
I like to put mine in the frig.
After 12 or 24 hours dump the water and put the cake back in the fruiting chamber.
This is dunking.
You can also put the cake into a ziplock bag.
