Radiohead live tomorrow...

I'm in the EST timezone, and right now it's Monday, so by tomorrow I mean Tuesday...but I can't help but post about it right now because I'm listening to A Punch-Up At a Wedding and I am so goddamned fucking excited.
My girlfriend's brother went to one of the Boston shows and said it was amazing...I have no doubts as to the verity of that statement. Ohhh mama. Standing room the first night, 300 level second row center the second night.

Lucky you. Make sure you are pleasantly stoned by the time you get there. That's my favorite way to listen to Radiohead.

I don't think I'll go stoned the second day, but maybe the first...but we'll see, I'm not sure.
Anyways, I skip opening bands a lot of the time, but the opener on this tour is The Black Keys, who are one of the best things I've stumbled into recently...they seriously rule. So I won't be able to get stoned and go right to the show and really be super stoned for Radiohead. Maybe the first night though, cause it'll be standing room and a lot easier to smoke.

I've heard about the Black Keys, but haven't listened to them. What are they like? Perhaps I'll download some tonight while I'm sleeping.

I just wanna say **FUCK YOU*** to all scalpers reading this.. you are the assholes that are killing rock and roll... doing shit like buying radiohead tickets for 40 bucks and selling out the show in 2 minutes so you can jack up the prices to 200 bucks a ticket on ebay (for even the shittiest seats), making it impossible for the real fans to go see the show
So if you're a scalper and you're reading this.. FUCK YOU! I hope you fucking DIE YOU FUCKING SHITHEADS!
Been waiting three years to see these guys again and I'm sick off all the dickheads on ebay that I see reselling ticketmaster tix for radiohead that happen to live in Chicago, New York, Phillipines, etc setting the reserve price for 200 bucks a ticket for seats that *SHOULD* be 40 bucks a pop. yea right. Like someone in the PHILLIPINES just happened to be in Los Angeles on June 29th with 20 of his close friends and then just decided not to go and sell his tix on ebay. I hope someone takes these fuckers down.
I fucking hate scalpers. I'm not a big video game player, but I got pissed off at the people who bought a shitload of xbox 360's in that first wave and then sold them on ebay for 2 grand a pop screwing over some poor kids who really wanted them.. so I logged on with a fake account and bid on a bunch of them for 1500 and then bailed on the sellers just to teach those assholes a lesson. I should do the same with these radiohead tickets.
Yo Robot... if you happen to find anyone selling tickets to radiohead in Los Angeles later this month for LESS than 100 bucks a ticket, let me know :P

the black keys are pretty cool. they've got that detroit bluesy rock sound (even though they are from akron) - radiohead are big fans of theirs.
brain - as for scalpers, i agree! the best thing about a show w. a lot scene, though, is that once the music starts, ticket prices drop way down

Gonna shower now and then head to work, which will help my mind get off the fact that in a mere 9 hours from now I will be in the GA floor section of the theater @ MSG waiting for the Black Keys to finish their set and the lights to go back down for Radiohead so I can spark up this fat, fat joint.

I'm armed: I've got a joint, it's not a fattie, more of a pinner, but it's definitely enough for a man alone to get stoned to the gourd, which I shall, since my girlfriend won't be smoking this evening. It's 5:30 now. Headed to the venue around 7:30. Between now and then I'm going to drink vodka tonics.
Then, I'm gonna drink beers during The Black Keys and their awesome bluesy shit.
Then I'm gonna light up this joint right when Radiohead starts their first song, which I am gonna call out right now as The Gloaming, that's definitely what I think they're gonna start with.
The bassline is stuck in my head.....!!!

i saw 'em in maryland (merriweather post pavilion) during their tour for Hail to the Thief. i have been a radiohead fan since the day Kid A came out and I bought it.. listened to it (before i even smoked weed or anything) and was hooked. i didn't even remember hearing creep back in the 90s when it was huge.. so it was totally new to me.
i've been addicted ever since. my point is, you will fucking love them live. they have so much ambiance and stage presence.. it's like they're an entity.
if you're anything like me (and have binocs or a close enough view) you'll watch jonny greenwood the most. he's absolutely brilliant and it's awesome to see him do his shit live. like "idioteque" for example. it will be the most powerful song you've ever heard live.
have fun dude, i seriously friggin' envy you.

Off I go...this is Radiohead show #10 for me, if I've counted correctly. Honestly, I don't watch any one of them more than the others, they're all hypnotic in their own ways.

None of the stuff off of his new solo album, The Eraser. They did play a slew of new Radiohead songs though including 15 Step, Arpeggi, House of Cards, and a couple of others. They did a rendition of Fake Plastic Trees that made me cry. A lot. The Bends rocked my world. Fuck, Radiohead is so awesome. I Might Be Wrong is the coolest song EVAR.

More tonight...
I really think they'll open with The Gloaming tonight since they didn't last night, but shit, Radiohead's one of the most unpredictable live bands around these days so I have no idea. They'll probably debut a new song that hasn't even been played yet this year, something I'm definitely excited about. My top 5 songs I wanna hear tonight are Black Star, Planet Telex, The Gloaming, Where I End and You Begin, and Let Down.
Oh yeah...and Paranoid fuckin' Android.

Yeah.
I saw em a few years back at Liberty State Park when they were touring Amnesiac.
Then in 2003 I saw them at Beacon Theatre and three days later at the Field Day Festival. Then I saw them later that summer in NJ, then again in Colorado at Red Rocks, then in Vancouver at Thunderbird Stadium.
That fall, I saw them twice at MSG. Then I saw them again at Coachella the following May. Last night was #10 and tonight makes 11 and I could see them every fucking night and be completely happy. If I had a ton of savings, I would follow them on their next tour.

Wow, that's quite a repertoire of radiohead shows. If I had the cash I'd definitely catch them anytime they came to the US.. they have the uncanny ability to schedule shows at the absolute worst time for me. Ah well, I saw them once and that was enough to satiate my thirst for them but I can't deny that if I could, I'd watch them at every possible show.
When I mentioned Jonny, the only reason I mentioned him was because of how entertaining it is to see all the gizmos he uses. It's fun to watch him & Ed tweak all the samplers/delays/etc on EIIRP, and when he uses the analog synth on Idioteque.. I just geek out on the equipment part of it all. I've never seen so much variety.
Do they still seem to be in high spirits on stage? When I saw them, it was the first time they had played Creep in years I think. They seemed very happy..
Enjoy yourself brotha' man, I'll be here wishing I was there.

Hey. Headed to my girlfriend's in a sec to do some pre-gaming before the show. Just wanted to say they look beyond high spirits on stage..they look like they're are emotionally and enthusiastically enjoying every second of what they're doing, and since this tour is one of experimentation with the new songs, you can tell it's fresh and raw and they're loving it. Even the stage decorations are very simplistic (a shattered set of screens broadcasting sepia and b/w-toned images).
Tonight, my seats are section 204 Row B, which is a perfect spot to watch Jonny. I didn't get to watch him much last night but tonight I'm sure I'll be transfixed.

Setlist:
01 The Gloaming 02 The National Anthem 03 15 Step 04 Arpeggi 05 Kid A 06 Dollars And Cents 07 Videotape 08 Nude 09 I Might Be Wrong 10 Paranoid Android 11 Bangers 'n Mash 12 Pyramid Song 13 My Iron Lung 14 Bodysnatchers 15 Myxomatosis 16 No Surprises [Thom dedicates to Michael Stipe] 17 Everything In Its Right Place
Encore 1 18 A Wolf At The Door 19 Down Is The New Up 20 Like Spinning Plates 21 Spooks 22 Idioteque
Encore 2 23 Just 24 The Tourist
Another night, another two tracks off of the Bends...My Iron Lung and Just, they were both so fucking good. Like Spinning Plates gave me intense chills. When they played Idioteque, they were actually going to play a new song at first and started it but Thom called it off cause it sounded shitty, and they started playing Idioteque instead and it sounded amazing. Of the new songs, I liked Arpeggi and Videotape best.

I think they're going back to the studio in fall/winter to record and then eyeing a spring/early summer release, followed by a big outdoor tour.

I'm excited to see how the tracks I heard the last two nights will have evolved by then...some of them were way too thrashy/rocky to be Radiohead songs.

I remember when Kid A and Amnesiac were too "Electronic" to be Radiohead albums...

Well, I never ever thought that. I had always liked Radiohead until Kid A came out - then I absolutely loved them, and have ever since. I like how they returned to their guitar rock roots on Hail to the Thief, but I can't convey to you how thrashy, how hard rock, three of the new songs were. It just didn't ring true with me so much.

I hear you... but, I took a while to be converted to Kid A... like 4 consecutive listens... the day it came out. Most critics gave Kid A and Amnesiac mid-range ratings... and I bet quite a few have come around since then.
I like it when they fuck with their fans and move on.
U2 lasted this long doing much the same thing... pissing off their core fans, changing their sound, and moving on.

I was there too in columbia back in sept 03. I actually got two DEAD center tickets on ebay for 30 bucks each.... one good thing about buying tickets last minute... sometimes you get a deal.
