hi, im a newbie shroomer and am in the process of building my first terranium (my jars are almost fully colonized). I decided to use a fish tank air pump for my gas exchange method and was wodering how big the pump should be to create sufficient gas exchange when left running 24/7. Also, i was wondering if i should put carbon on top of my bubbler stone in the water jar to help prevent contamination in the water. not sure the carbon would hinder shroom growth for some strange reason or not? thanks for the input in advance

**another quick note. is there not a section on shroomery.org with terranium building proceedure/pics, postable by the public, or am i blind?

terrarium terrarium terrarium terrarium terrarium.
damn
no disrespect to you; congrats on your near complete jars; i bet youre pretty excited as i was too!
pump of any size will work; i dunno about 24/7. just experiment and see what keeps your tank humid. it depends on total area to be humidified; outlet holes; etc. just use perlite and a small bubbler and you should be ok.
dunno about the carbon

surf for 5 or 10 minutes on teh pictures forum. many terrarium setups there; or search in there for grow chamber or something.

ha ha, beppo! i have seen so many posts that say "terranium" wonder if thats another name for it though, to many ppl spell it that way.
dont bother buying a air pump, just open your chamber 3 times a day and fan.

I use a dual output Elite 802 Air Pump to humidify 2 20Gallon tanks. I just run the airstone into a mason jar of H20 (with a pinch of salt to retard bacterial growth). This setup works great for me. I fan the tanks about 2-3 times per day as well. G

Gnome, did you press STOP on your browser after you had submitted your response, edit it, and then send again? I hate when I do that.
