This message is for everyone that has posted in the forum. After a month off from the workplace due to a random drug test and subsequent follow-up tests that I am forced to give, I finally entered the world of mushroom cultivation.

Before I bought all my supplies and waited on my spores to arrive I read and read and read all the info I could on growing properly. Straight PF tek max fruiting was used and innoculation occured on 2/23. As of this writing my jars are anywhere from 60% to 30% colonized with excellent rhizomorphic growth, except for one which may or may not be a goner. The hardest part right now is waiting on full colonization. Plan to use perlite humification when cakes are done. I hope to get more jars innoculated when first cake is birthed.

As for my first attempt I am very pleased with how things are going and want to thank all for their great info. I will keep posting when things go to the next step.

Thanks for the responses....I feel like I belong now.

So since I am in the asking mood. What is the opinion of untaping and flipping the jars? I have read in the forum that this is only needed if the jars have stalled out, but since mine are still going pretty good because I see more growth everyday, is it really necessary to do this?

it will just speed them up to do that; wether theyre staling or not. after 50% or after the complete top is colonized then you can flip them pretty much worry free.
glad to hear youre taking up mycology; you wont be disappointed :smile:
