It's not proper to ask again half an hour later. People don't live here. I can't imagine a reason you'd be buying a heater in Dallas. I live in a much cooler climate and incubate on an open shelf at normal room temperature. What exactly are you looking at a heater to do? Also, please boycott wal mart. Nearly everything they sell is shit and they are bringing down our standard of living. Quit going there before it's the only place to go.

^^
I agree for sure with RR's advice.
If you live somewhere warm,
Or if your house is 75 degrees or so,
do yourself a favor and just incubate on a shelf or something.

Incubators will work if done just right,
but they are hard to get just right for most people.
a lot of people end up just cooking their jars in them.
Plus they have limited space and suck up electricity.

They really will be just fine left out at room temperature.

If it is too cool in your house due to the a/c,
or if you just want in incubator to be sure things are
consistently good...
this one should work just fine.

He did. RogerRabbit said he was positive you bumped your own thread too quickly.

And he's right about temps.

And he's right about Walmart.

It's generally not a good idea to enter a forum and start giving the regulars the stink-eye. I can't speak for Roger but you probably just pissed off someone who often takes the time to help out the new people, like yourself. And all the members that respect him and his contributions.

Like me.

First off My tetra works fine, it took a little bit to get it set perfect but it does work. I understand you might be upset that your stuff is not going to your plan but with this type of study you have to have patiencs, and like Splif said attacking one of the vetern growers and helper is not going to get you much help in the future. Petco has a pretty decent one with the temp on the dial not just the mark for 78 degrees like the tetra one.GL

I use a tetra and was only able to get stable temps after I threw a power head in there to stir things up. Took me about a week to get it tweaked to the right setting but now it's running fine.

First off...you seriously just knocked the wrong guy. I haven't called upon RR yet, but he's been in most of the posts I know of and is incredibly helpful. Maybe you misunderstood what he was saying, but either way I'd recommend an edit and apology.
Also..I'm running 3 Tetra's w/o a problem. They do take some time to dial in. If your 3-5 degrees cold..just dial it up a little bit and wait out 8-10hours and recheck. Tank heaters can't accurately judge temp unless you want to spend the money for digitals. When the coil heats up, it warms the water in the immediate vicinity of the probe and it will turn of shortly. They are designed for fish tanks with a constant movement in the water.
