How Long Will Colonized WBS Jars Last?
    #5738946 - 06/11/06 06:03 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

My WBS jars are done colonizing but I won't need all of them. How long will these stay viable at room temp?

I've seen answers to this question ranging from a week to months.

And while I'm on the subject, how about LC jars?

yap, I just successfully spawned Pan Cyans with WBS, that was more then month old.

But the Mycobag with Rye, did not last that long before it just died

LC can last a very long time, like in vacutainers, or just in the fridge.

Stick them in the fridge.

I have often left wbs jars in the fridge for over a month,
sometimes like 2-3 months, having forgot about them.

every one of them has worked fine.

Just let it sit out for a day at room temperature when you do remove it from the fridge.

Unfortunately, while my wife is tolerant of my hobby, she draws the line at the fridge.

Well you have to school her,

A colonized jar is of no concern,

Just stress the need for it and place it out of view, like in a bag.

I feel you spliff, the old ladies don't take to kindly to the hobby, but she likes the money I save & that I have a hobby other then sleeping haha.

^^get a mini fridge^^ as long as there is room in your place of living then she should have no problem. I disguise mine as wine bottles, and there is real wine in there! Bought then for $3 at a head shop and pints fit perfect
