2 of my cakes have this white clumpy fuzzyness on them growing on top of the mycellum. they look like small cotton swabs, is this normal?

Do you have any pictures?

I've seen mycelia colonies that were incredibly fuzzy, enough to look like contam;

and as a second guess: a contam.

Whenever I have any suspicion of any of my specimen I usually move it to a small container isolated from the lot.

But that definately isn't really prevenative of the contams.

Make sure if it's a jar that continuously shows problems that you do NOT open the other jars near it.

white fuzzy growths just sound like mycellium too me. The myc poofs out in a high RH environment because it's seeking out more moisture.
