Gruesome/horrific visuals?

Has anyone steered themselves into thought loops of death and other forms of horror that have then taken visual form? this was most prominent during my first LSD trip when I began experimenting with my thoughts/visuals etc. I watched my friend's body decompose while he lied on a sofa, later I'd close my eyes only to face extremely bloody closed eye visuals.... most of these were abstract and reminded me of giger's work such as this: http://www.therionweb.de/giger/land/hr_giger_landscape_X.jpg the last 3 hours or so of that trip were quite distressing as I couldn't snap back into the more peaceful visuals.
Since then I've had a few moments, usually while in the dark, of seeing rather gruesome images.... definitely one of the downsides of LSD IMO. so I was just wondering if this was common with others' experiences.

I haven't. I've felt some of the darkest, scariest things in the world. And had thoughts of the same nature.
But visuals usually only come so clearly for positive, beautiful things. Strange.
My girlfriend once had a bad trip, involving blood coming from the walls, knives, demons, etc. Have yet to see a demon, but I figure they can't be far. I think I've just never considered the idea of a demon while tripping. And a picture of one would probably look more like a silly elf/troll.

Well if you are seeing those things, then you are most likely putting those things into your mind beforehand. Giger? What's that. If you were to go on rotten.com everyday and absorb all off the disgusting images they have, then those things become part of you. If this trip disturbed you then it's a sign that you need to start controlling the things you put in your mind. Fill your mind with beauty on a regular basis, not death and gore.

I've been helping a friendish person prepare for his first trip.
The other day he started telling me about some fucked up japanese videos he watches.
One involves a woman who feels pain as pleasure. So she cuts up her vagina (graphically) and begins to eat it. Another, a woman drinks blended up aborted fetuses to make her live longer (funny on south park. Not as cool when they make it look real, and do it for 13 year olds to feel 4wesome.)
Hey... if that's what he likes, whatever. But I told him my official statement is not to trip at this point in his life. He can go for it if he wants, but I'm not dealing with the mess. I'm not qualified anyway.

i did see some crazy shit but it was amazing... everyone was having a bad thought loop so i went in the living room by myself and layed down... it felt exactly like a horror movie, like someone was going to be murdered...my view started glazing over in red and i kept hearing a horrific violin sound in my mind. at the time mind was going everywhere. this was goin on for a while but i kept cool and things turned for the better. i wasnt afraid so it was pretty cool, except for the crazy thought loop

The ability to play around with visuals while on LSD is interesting. The fact that you seem to have a certian level of control over them is also nice -- if a certian theme of visuals starts to freak you out/scare you or find unpleasent, its typically not that hard to change them around again.

I see a lot of demonic faces when I trip..this dosen't bother me at all but what did bother me was thinking my dog had gone stiff and was dead...I think its probably fear manifesting itself

I have had them, but only once. It was an OK trip and all, but the visuals were just damn gross. I saw people being crushed, graphically. I saw some dudes head get stepped on by an elephant, causing everything to ooze out. I also kept seeing this guy come at me with a big hunting knife, and stabbing me repeatedly. Lots of really sick stuff that I dont even want to mention, very gruesomely sexual. Absolutely aweful. It was like I was one with the darkest, most perverted thoughts of the global consciousness. But I just stayed with it, and they dissapeared. I think the main reason for this was because I was incredibly tired due to not having slept very well the night before. It was one of those blah trips, where you are not really high enough to really let go and explore. But yet too high to really do anything about it. Though I have done acid hundreds of times, and this was the ONLY time anything like this has happened. My body just wasn't into it.

definitely, you can't expect not to see/experience feelings or sights that are uncomfortable or even gruesome. everywhere from death and decay to beauty and bliss are part of the human imagination and experience.
humans are responsible for mountains of projection.
you are what you eat. so be aware of what you are feeding yourself.. and then feeding back into the system.
however, sometimes i get the impression that there is a presence with me (especially with psilocybe).. something completely other, and thus responsive or relative to us, rather than from us. in other words, i sometimes get the impression that what i'm being 'shown' is indeed that, a vision imparted by some other mind or entity.
