Good Question For Some Of The More Advanced Cultivators

Hi all. I'm pretty new to the scene but I plan to stay for a while.
My ? is this, I'm planning on using the standard PF tek with Perlite + Super Bubbler Humidification. Would it be a bad idea to add Just a touch of Super Thrive to the water used for the substrate? I had this idea, but i would like to get some input from some one with more experience in these things so i don't waste spore water or precious time. If you don't know what super thrive is go look at google.com and search for it. It mainly used for plants.
Wouldn't the amino acids and nutrients help? I'm not sure what all contains because there is no list of ingredients but if there was bacteria in there that would be killed by the sterilization.
Thanks for the help

Hey man, welcome the the shroomery.
Your post would probably be best in the cultivation forum, it may get moved there.
Anyways - my suggestion is to give it a jam - half the jars with and half without. Remember to label them well.

Correct. This forum is for mycology discussion, not cultivation. Ask over there and I'll relate some experiences where more people can see it. RR

Sorry bout that guys. The admin moved it to the correct forum. I hope that we can get some really good ppl to chat over this subject. If it seems its able to increase yield or growth I'll try it with a few cakes, and show a grow log w/ side by side pics. (I got this freaking 1200$ camera for a reason (college))

No matter what the Thrive watetr contains, it seems when someone comes in and asks if adding "this" or "that" will improve their BE or yield rather; the answer is:
usually not, usually the additive would negate something that is actually beneficial to the mushroom world.
If you stick to what's been planned out(*all the Teks and Documentation on this site*) for you to try in the begining then you'll find yourself being surprisingly caught up and understanding what you really can add to these suckers to make them bigger.
If you like big mushrooms or hell even big yields check out some of HippieChick's photos (user search>pics)
Anyways, welcome and good luck.

I have no personal knowledge that would back up this claim other than common sense. Mushrooms are fungi not plants, their metabolic process is VERY different. Super thrive is specially formulated for plants, therefore it would most likely be harmful/useless for mushrooms. Now maybe I'm completely wrong, but the only way to find out is to try!

Oh and I forgot earlier but you really shouldn't want to add things to your mushies to which you can't find the ingrediants, it's great to experiment but you can create deadly concoctions.
Just be safe and be smart
*I read over the "super thrive" website and found no information about it..only a few testimonials and some contacts-I wouldn't trust that-gl

Super Thrive is gonna help your tomatoes and plants...
not your shrooms.
