Yeah, somebody define "politics". I find that most disagreements about politics arise from a misunderstanding of what "politics" is/are. So wtf is politics?

I've always felt that politics occurs whenever you have three people or more. Because politics requires two people with differing views, and at least one more person for them to try and manipulate...
It seems to be, at its core, to do with the art of social manipulation to advance either an agenda, a career, or both...

Well if you want to get philosophical, like the social science or human / animals behavior,
But 95% of the time it's good old bickering about the government.

True, but you can also have politics occur in the office...
It's also true that "politics" also involves people discussing their beliefs...
I still generally see it as a polar divide which leads to the manipulation of third parties, but that's just my view and it doesn't really account for the discussion/bickering factor as mentioned by SnaggleTooth...
here's what Webster has to say about it:
Main Entry: pol·i·tics Pronunciation: 'pä-l&-"tiks Function: noun plural but singular or plural in construction Etymology: Greek politika, from neuter plural of politikos political 1 a : the art or science of government b : the art or science concerned with guiding or influencing governmental policy c : the art or science concerned with winning and holding control over a government 2 : political actions, practices, or policies 3 a : political affairs or business; especially : competition between competing interest groups or individuals for power and leadership (as in a government) b : political life especially as a principal activity or profession c : political activities characterized by artful and often dishonest practices 4 : the political opinions or sympathies of a person 5 a : the total complex of relations between people living in society b : relations or conduct in a particular area of experience especially as seen or dealt with from a political point of view <office politics>
I guess I tend to lean towards 3 & 5...
It's obviously a very large word, which encompasses a lot of territory...

So...the question is, does anyone hate the art of social manipulation to advance either an agenda, a career, or both...?
Is social manipulation unessential to life? Is social manipulation evil? Is advancing an agenda or a career evil?
What about laws, which manipulate society to advance an agenda of an organized society? Are they worth anything?
Is a government worth it? Is voting worth it? Is debate worth it?
If there is no solution that will please everybody, is it not possible that still there are some solutions that are better than others? And what is better? Is it worth it to give a fuck?
Or is it all relative?
If it's all relative then fuck it. Rape nuns and eat babies, who gives a fuck?
But then relativism is itself relative.
And then you stop existing.
And zombies eat your brain.

Zombies Ate My Brain!™
I imagine that those zombies could get into some pretty heated political debates about who's going to eat what brain and when. Sort of taking politics to the next level in an infinitely nested group of sets and sub-sets...
So I guess that it's impossible to escape politics as long as sentient beings are involved...
