im in 1 week in my brf jars and things seem to be going well. But where the mycelium is growing the substraight looks kinda brownish and kinda dry. but everywhere else looks fine.. does anyone know what this is? Could it just be the mycelium drying out the substrate?
Thanks All

I'm still new to this, but I did use the PFTek for my first trial. I always thought my jars were "dry" until they were fully colonized and I realized just how much water was really in there. Your jars are probably just fine. Welcome to the waiting game!

Congratulations on your first success. If the jar is too dry, the mycelium will stop growing. You can take a grease pencil and mark the borders of growth to gauge what's going on in there. Keep the jars at 80 degrees for faster growth. GL.

he said mark the edges of your mycelium now with a grease pencil.
this will let you actually chart the growth of the mycelium.
80 degrees is a great temperature for incubation. I too get optimal growth right around 80. don't set your incubator too high.
