btw he was curious as to wether the white stuff at the base was mycelium or cobweb =/.. as he said it looks quite fluffy

mycellium comes in a few forms. fluffy, cottony, rhyzomorphic

Cobweb mold will grow like mad and become very obvious.
Cobweb is darker than cubensis mycelium... more of a grey than a white.
Once you have seen cobweb mold...it is very easy to tell the difference.
Regular cubensis mycelium can look an awful lot like cobweb until you know what to look for.
