i just purchased a psilocybe ez gro kit and in the instructions say the kit needs to be maintained at around 80 degrees, with some light. my house at best is a dry 60 degrees. the kit is self enclosed in a plastic tub.
what i am wondering is what is the best way to maintain this temperature? put the entire plastic tub in a styrofoam cooler with a 50 w lamp in a jar of water and a temperature gauge? but then how will the kit get light? or perhaps a humidifier? space heater? any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. this is only the second time i have done this- the first time was a different supposedly "easier" kit that got infected by mold after like a day. i want to eventually graduate to scratch growing but i want to master easy growing first. this apparently may take a while.
thanks,
laura

You should really read the FAQ, www.shroomery.org/faq/ or read the MMGG. Its very informative. I dont know much about kits, but Ive heard in the past they are sort of a waste of money. You could have bought everything you needed for a lot cheaper.
As for temperature, try putting an aquarium heater in a jug of water. This will keep the ambeint temperature up. For humidity, use perlite. you buy a bag of it, wet it in a strainer or pillow case, let drip for a few minutes and put a 1 inch layer on the bottom of your terrarium. Best bet is to buy a digital temp/hygrometer from radio shack or somewhere for 30 bucks.
Good luck.
