i got a couple inches of water in a tank. the heater has a nob you can turn from low to high.
there is a "on" light that only turns on when i put the nob on high.
i feel it get hot i put in water.....the water never gets warm.

Perhaps, even for that small amount of water the aqua heater isn't strong enough?
I've never used an aqua heater, but in a froogle search I found that even the cheapies start around 100+watts.

the exact name brand is like aqua gardens or somethin along those lines.
it said it would heat a 10 gallon tank...so i thoguth for sure it could heat a few inchs of water to where i needed it..
i was just woundering if im not working it right...its so simple but dam it should be heating this water to at least luke warm...its like its not doing anything...but i touch it and its warm...

Does it have to be fully submerged in some area?
As a safety feature maybe,
'won't run without "X" in the water' ?
Maybe "X" being some sensor? Or the like..look around on it, get the exact model name and plug it into google and read about it (hint:look for consumer reviews)

Hmm..I didn't pull up much for the heater.
One partial review said it was "lightweight and flimsy" -as that doesn't affect your situation I am at a stand still.
Good Luck Mak

Perhaps it's designed to only operate in the vertical postition, not horizontal. RR

I had one like RR was talking about. It took me awhile to figure it out. Wal-mart has one it is the Tetra Whisper Heater and you can put it in any place and it will work. I use the 100 watt one and I have no ways near the 30 gals it is rated for. it was like 25.00 bucks here. GL.
